“If we get our self-esteem from superficial places, from our popularity, appearances, business success, financial situation, health, any of these, we will be disappointed, because no one can guarantee that we’ll have them tomorrow.” Kathy Ireland
If you find your self-esteem in superficial places, what is preventing you from finding it in yourself? If you’re in a room, by yourself, without your possessions, how long do you think you could stand to be with yourself, by yourself?
Finding self-esteem in possessions often means that one is ultimately unhappy at the core. Rather than constantly purchasing or acquiring new items, take the time to figure out exactly why you are afraid to face yourself. Were you bullied or mistreated as a child by your peers? Did you have a traumatic experience that you have not yet come to terms with? Have you suffered some form of emotional abuse by those that you felt were supposed to always have your back?
Sometimes, you may need help in finding the answers to these questions, if you’re unable to figure this out on your own, reach out to me to assist you in learning about yourself.
Without your possessions, you are left with you. Learn to love yourself as you are, and you will live a much healthier and happier life.
